Mr. O belongs to a model airplane club (remote-control) and the members, many of them retired pilots, go around the schools telling the pupils
about airplanes and what a great hobby flying is. They help the children build small balsa wood planes which the children then fly in the gym -
just to get the feel of it. The main purpose is to teach the younger generation that there are other and better things in life than the culture
of alcohol and drugs. In the summer they have "Open Days" for the children at the actual flying field. There is always a cheer from them as
Mr.O's huge delta-wing plane takes to the air.
Then we have our lighter times with our many friends. We think nothing of driving 60 or 100 miiles to be together. In the summer it is a BBQ here
or a BBQ there or a pot luck supper by the lake.
Last week the Windsor Symphony Orchestra gave an open-air concert at Lakeside Gardens. This brings out the music aficionados by the hundreds.
Should it have rained we would have gone into the Lakeside Pavilion, a beautiful concert hall, ballroom etc right by the lake. I can't think of a
nicer setting for beautiful music.
I must also mention that there is a large recreational centre in the town closest to us, a 20-minute drive. There they have two badminton courts,
a skating rink, an indoor walking track - used mainly in winter - an Olympic-sized salt-water pool, which we take full advantage of, exercise
rooms with all you expect to find there, weights, bikes, treadmills and personal trainers.
As you can see, we have no excuse not to exercise; not to go out and enjoy nature or listen to music or do any of the things that give life
special meaning.
My random thoughts seems to have rambled on from one subject to the next. I think it's called 'free wheeling.'
