Hornsund consists of several magnifi cent fjords along the west coast of Spitsbergen, where enormous glaciers let go of shimmering blue ice floes. On the southern side of the fjord we will pass one of the highest mountains in Svalbard, Hornsundstinden. This is one of the favourite haunts for some of Svalbard`s many polar bears.
sad for the people killed and injured but i feel more sad for the bear which was in its rightful place,who know if its got youngsters waiting for it to return

I agree with you deggers, the bear was in its rightful place and who knows, it may have attacked because it did have young - God help them now. I'm sorry for the relatives of the dead though. Maybe should have just shot gun up into the air to scare it off.
