Following on from my last query, just one more thing. Can a .177 and a .22 air gun pellet be fired from the same gun, or do I need to order the correct pellet to be sure it will fire correctly?

You need the correct size.
.177 is too small for a .22 bore and would rattle around inside it, while .22 is too big to fit in a .177 bore.
