Jodhpurs were developed by the Maharajah of Jodhpur in India. They are wide-hipped riding trousers of heavy cloth, fitting tightly from knee to ankle.

This answers the clue 'you could ride all the way home from India in these'.
I still don't understand the jodhpurs or Derby examples at all.
I'm clearly no puzzleking, sorry.
shoe, hoe?
Thanks pk, i get that bit but not the 'seen or heard' maybe I''m having a dim day :-/
seen or heard: hose (sounds like hoes)
I can see that hoes sounds like hose- but why does the clue say "hidden in here"?
Can anyone explain the Derby answer? Thanks
That one works for me, still struggling to understand the examples though, think I'll leave this one alone!
Thanks, 'chelle. Our friend pk does find them, doesn't he?
oh yes they're always worth a look from pk
Factor30 derby's a hat though I still don't understand the clue.
