'King Jim' returns to tease you for week 2.
This week my son is having a visit from his in-laws. They are Turkish from Istanbul and Jools and I like them very much. So we will be traveling up to London for the weekend so we can spend some time with them. Which is why Gen2 is posting my links for me this week.

I met Jools whilst on holiday on the Isle of Wight, where she was working as a waitress on the holiday camp I stayed at. It transpired that she lived only five miles from me (all be it from the ‘posh’ side of the East End. She came from East Ham whereas I came from West ‘Am). To go to the Isle of Wight in those days was quite something.
My son did the usual thing for lads of his era, backpacking around Australia and Europe. As a consequence, he only ever had one English girlfriend and that was while he was living in Paris. He eventually met the lovely Turkish girl he is now married to. My daughter on the other hand married a local lad and they married in Canada and subsequently emigrated there. Not content with just moving to Canada, they have moved about within Canada, starting in Vancouver then on to Halifax and now in Ottawa. This does tend to make life somewhat interesting for us as we now have new cities to explore.

My younger brother moved to Australia with his family in the 80’s living in Adelaide until recently, he now lives in Darwin. My family’s own diaspora begun with my elder brother emigrating to South Africa in the 60’s. Times were, when the whole family lived within walking distance of each other, and, apart from my elder brother, that was true of both of our families. Lovely though that was, it did have the effect of limiting your horizons. Now, thanks to the nomadic exploits of our children and my younger brother we have enjoyed quite a few years of travelling, seeing places I for one never thought I would see.
There also appears to be a subtle change in relationships. Whereas years ago your friends were nearby and had intimate knowledge of your life and its ups and downs. Today, those friends seem rather dispersed and contact is mainly via the internet and people seem to compensate for that by placing the most mundane happenings of their life on the network sites like Facebook. It leaves me wondering about the two very distinct periods of my life. What was the better? The relative easy, uncomplicated life in the East End with everything within easy reach and simple pleasures like Snooker, Football and the almost mandatory Saturday night ‘knees up’ providing a stable if somewhat repetitive lifestyle; or today’s adventures, where I am not really sure what the next year will bring or where I will be? I suppose in truth they are as pleasant as each other and proves that variety is indeed the spice of life.

According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I shall follow this rule on word length, in that each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!
Each of the selected link words may go in front of, or behind my challenge word.
The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when gen2 will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
