co-ordinates???

My friend has passed a local quiz on to me as she didnt understand it. I said i would look at it and i dont understand it either. It gives coordinates which are connected??? in some way. Obviously I dont expect help with all the clues but the first one is 30.03.53.07 N 31.14.58.23 E . As far as I can understand there should only be three sets of numbers for a grid ref or am I being really thick?!
Can someone explain how I can sort these out and what they refer to, so that I can help her solve this obscure quiz please?

...you can locate a point via coordinates, and these are 8 digits in length.
The first set of coordinates that you have given seem to be Cairo

The next coordinates you have given are in the English Channel, roughly 25 miles south of Brighton. Have you, by chance, mistyped?
Have you any more? Do you have any instructions for this quiz to shed more light?

yes, it says 'each of the coordinates in column 1 has a namesake in column 2. One pairing however seems to be incorrect at 1st sight but is infact in order, but why then 2 lists

Geog is not my strong point so I might not be approaching this correctly. The stupid thing is the setter who remains anon. (I wonder why!!!) complains that not many people enter the village comp. I feel this is not the way to encourage them to do so..... Thanks for the help anyway. Will keep plugging away at it, not sure why exactly but the penny may just drop!!!! We can live in hope?

might just be movin' there!!! Thanks, way beyond me dont even know why i'm bothering really but dont like to be beaten. There are 10 in each list, I can list the others too but feel its a bit of an imposition, just cant see any logic in it at all.

OK, I now think we're looking for capital / well known cities with namesakes elsewhere in the world. I not happy with the accuracy of the coordinates as the site that I posted earlier seems to put me somewhere near, but not exactly where I think I should be. If you post or work through the rest of your coords, I suspect other 'hits' or 'close but no cigar' cities will appear.

Ok, The 9 figure coords are where the longitude exceeds 99 degrees.
The coords are very imprecise, but by looking at the areas surrounding the points indicated, I can see, if I let my imagination run riot.....

You get no option of a non-proportional font here, and I believe duplicated spaces are set to a single space even when they serve a purpose.
