Think I may be wrong in the bottom l/h corner - any help appreciated.
17d Loud style of piano playing not without heart - I have strident - this answers loud and not without heart but where does the piano playing come in?
Am also not too sure of how 24d - Perhaps Oxford society has bowling venue at back - I have shoe - anagram of has and O for Oxford?. Something to do with Oxford shoe? can't see the connection with bowling venue. Many thanks and I know I'm going to kick myself!

thank you mac - we live and learn - I did try and look that up but my dictionary didn't offer that definition.
The best I can come up with is society = S, HOE are a string of bowling venues, Oxford is the SHOE.
Shoe isn't an anagram of HAS and O, i'm afraid.
Hoe- isn't that where Francis Drake played Bowls. Add the S for Society.
If Oxford is known as the SHOE as mac44 says then it's right

I can't even get a four letter anagram correct today - have silly of me !
Thank you Mac amd Factor 30 - the connection with Hoe and bowls sounds right.
