Is it true that the actor who plays Peter Barlow in Corrie is leaving the soap and if so, why is he leaving?

a soap is not the most challenging career for an actor he want to branch out into theatre

Like I posted yesterday and you obviously didn't believe me (!) I read months ago that he was leaving at the end of this year and I saw Mum today and confirmed it with her as she remembers it too. Why don't you believe me ??!

Apologies to notasyoungasiwas. I saw that you had posted 'Peter is leaving at the end of the year anyway I think' but didn't notice that further on you had said 'I'm pretty certain that I read etc'.
So it's not that I didn't believe you, It was because you had put 'I think' and also I wanted to find out if anyone knew why he is leaving.
