like any muslim country, if i know the rules and tolerances before i go then i just get on with it and enjoy me holidays. but yes if the dynamics of the resort changed to that extent it would put me off going i suppose.
it would remind me too much of the time i spent working in the middle east which is bearable to a point, but not for holidays wearing my mankini and drinking pina colada with a cocktail umbrella in.

Egypt brew some fine beers, Shakara, Luxor and Stella (Not the french one). It will be a multi million pound industry and the manufacturers of those products will resist such a move. It is possible to be a secular country and muslim as well. Turkey is a fine example.
It depends who wins in the elections, but Egypt's population is young. They have just deposed one tyranny, they will not elect a new one.

We have been to Egypt a) to see the truly amazing archeological sites and Nile cruise and b) for the Red Sea scuba diving which is superb especially if you can get to the quieter dive sites.
Other than that Sharm is just another modern development on the edge of a scrubby desert.
We are planning a diving holiday for next winter and Sharm is an option. If they do go all islamic then the only people they will help are the resorts on the Israeli side.
