Like everyone I am struggling with this clue. I have Roquefort, Roulettes and Rocambole as possible answers. I'm trying to apply laterial thinking to this problem, are you aware:-

Thanks for your help Lashbo but I still can't get the answer!!! I thought of "tart" or "torte" ( in fact over the last three weeks I've thought of everything) and looked at all the Italian dishes in sight. I just gotter know but, to be fair, if you don't give us the answer, you will probably win cos no one else seems to know!!!

OK Lasbo. I'm sure I know what your answer is and it fits perfectly but I disregarded it a couple of weeks since because surely its 5,4 and NOT 9 letters. Anyway, I have now emailed the quiz setter about this so WATCH THIS SPACE.

A quick update on The Winter Quiz - Although we are well short of the £1000 target at the moment, I expect to collect around £400 from all the local businesses which are selling copies, so the £1000 is still in my sights..
