Re the Annie Laurie clue above, good question, I wish I knew!
I spotted it well before Christmas on the Wiki-answers website. There was very little by way of explanation, something to do with one of Alistair Cooke’s letters from America around the time of the Civil Rights troubles. I was just happy to accept it because it was such a neat fit to a very specific clue and was going to investigate it later, when I had more time. I’ve now spent more time trying to find it again than I did first time around, with no luck. I think Wiki-answers deletes stuff after a certain time.
