Hi,seadogg,it sounds as feasible as mine but I think we're perhaps both on the wrong track! I've thought of all the old punishments but can't fit them exactly to the clue. Silver birch? rack,hanging. It might be just o for old then a punishment. I'm giving up for a while and having a cuppa.
