1923  First Broadcast of Warren Harding.  This was a first broadcast by a US President ( The New Book of Firsts)

In 1960 the US submarine Triton made first undersea-voyage round the world.  However, this does not fit with `DS`, but it may be a clue.  Further, in Sheffield, the last British tram ran.  Again the `DS` is the problem.  Sorry I cannot bemore helpful.

A sudden thought.  Could it be `Deep-sea Submarine Trident`?  However, this does seem rather weak.

That's very good - thanks for your ideas. I hope the person who compiled this quiz knows what they're talking about! Both of your answers seem plausible - but nothing really jumps out from these combinations of letters. I'll be very interested to hear the ultimate answer if indeed there is one!
