The trick is to turn the volume down slowly before you change channel. He is just steeping himself in the ambiance of football, I expect he finds it comforting.

LOL at tranparent eye lids, my OH has them too. But so did his father and my old grandad so nothing new in it.

At least we have our laptops and remote controls now unlike the previous generation who had to get up and creep across the room to change the channel!

I stick my headphones on when I get tired of listening to sport and either come on here or watch somehting on the iplayer.

There is a knack to changing channels McFluffy, you gradually lower the sound, THEN flip the channel, and then start turning the volume up again :)

Take batterys out after changing station After so long the television will refuse to work at least you wont have to watch football.
