Fairisle?
Canna
Fairisle?
Canna
alderney
Actually I think Alderney is a good alternative - each Channel Island has a different pattern of fisherman's jumper.
Ah - except it's 9 letters!
1 could be Jersey, Guernsey, Fairisle or Arran
but only 2 of those fit the 8 letters requirement
I still argue for a Guernsey - that's the name of the style of jumper, Fair Isle is a stitch pattern.
On the East coast I've heard them called "Ganseys" and each port had its own pattern too but they must be derived from Guernsey.
Alderney is 8 letters
