Does anyone actually *like* carnations?
25 Answers
We don't bother with Valentines Day but obviously lots of people do.
I must say carnations are probably my least favourite flowers and I'd be a bit gutted if anyone bought me some.
My favourites are calla lillies (my wedding flowers), sunflowers, gladioli, freesias and I like pussy willow.
Do you like carnations? What are your favourite flowers?
Sorry if another flower thread has been done.

I am no flower expert but my late wife just went to the shop and just purchased any flowers which looked good at the time.
I can not remember buying her carnations but I am sure our 2 daughters did.
I do not think my wife was a real flower expert but I think she knew a ittle more than me.

Anything with wonderful fragrance
The only exception in the carnation are those old fashioned pinks with the lovely clove scent although carntions are good in arrangements as they come in so many colours and last ages. least faves for me are chrysanths as the smell gives me a headache

I love carnations and pinks IF they smell as they are lovely long lasting flowers and fill the room with their fragrance. However, I like most flowers and love to receive them, freesias have a wonderful fragrance too. I don't like lillies because they don't have a nice smell and the stamens stains if you don't remove them...but to answer the question yes love carnations and OH bought two lots of them for me today in Aldi's!
Nothing wrong with carnations, they're very nice.
I don't really have a favourite flower, all seem nice, but i suppose i have a soft spot for roses as my parents used to grow them, and now I have many in my garden too. But what I'd really like is a country garden style like you see on the chocolate and biscuit type tins. Lupins, foxgloves, and all that sort of stuff.

I don't like showy flowers at all or flowers just grown for bouquets. In fact I don't like big extravagent bouquets at all. Carnations are no favourite of mineeither. My favourite flowers are those just picked at random from a garden, including wild flowers and plonked in a vase. Don't do flower arrangements as such.
I think Daffodils must be my favourites and the spring flowers which are white and yellow and blue and purple. I adore daisies!!!
