I would say S(W)IFT

Part - Sift with the W from wife
Question Author
Thank you Liszt 2 I reasoned the same way but remain unconvinced.
Is the I definitely right. What about split (being short for split up)
Question Author
I is definitely right as it comes from a biblical quotation.

I had thought split but where's the wife in that answer (other split often indicates divorce
I just meant it in context of, if you part with your wife you split up, shortened is split.
but if your i is right, split is wrong anyway.
part..sift

with W..Wife in(side)

short...SWIFT..brief
Question Author
Thank you Grasscarp. On the balance of things I'll go with swift.

I do appreciate your help (and all that I am given as I've won a few prizes as a result of this site)
