Incredibly painful tip of tongue

It has been like this for weeks now - feels as though I have drunk a scalding cup of coffee and burnt the tip of my tongue, but I havent. Can now longer eat things like salt n vinegar crisps because they make it sting so much it is unbearable. Same goes for things that were previously mild ie chilli, but now feel as though I am eating the hottest curry on the planet. Its really making me miserable and I just dont know what it is.

have you?..burnt it ? sounds like you have done something to heighten the sensitivity on your tongue....scraped it..over zealous tooth brushing..

Assuming that you don't smoke and there is nothing to see, then the reason is probably dietary.Hot foods, curries etc.

can you see anything? sometimes tongues get boils or blockages. If there is nothing to see then pop to doc BEFORE the bank hol!

Have just been to the doctors and he just said he didnt know! It very slightly red, but nothing that you would really notice. I dont smoke, definitely havent scalded it. It came on gradually and not suddenly. But it is actually sore if i rub it.
