Heage Village quiz
20 Answers
I notice that there has been comment regardign asking for answers to the above quiz on this sitre already and people have commented that the the quiz setter Vickie Newey has asked that we don't ask for answers on the Internet.
I seem to think that normally we are given a cut off date before which we were requested not to ask for answers - am I right? Is this a new that we cannot ask for help at all?

Partly because it sounded interesting (which it is) and also because not allowed to ask on Internet. I find it very annoying to struggle with a quiz (Rainbow especially comes to mind- have been doing that almost since it started) and then find that most of the questions have been answered on line.
I do not understand why people send for quizzes if they are not prepared to spend time on them or send them in incomplete.
And before anyone moans - I know this is an answer site but as far as I am concerned being told the answer spoils the quiz for everyone. It might just as well be a prize draw with no questions.

Several points come to mind Gill
1. Yes, this is an answer site so why come on it if not looking for answers.
2. Having come on it and seen headings implying Rainbow Quiz, Heage, etc. why click on said heading to view what is being asked
3. Just because others ask for hints/clues/answers, does not preclude you from doing the quiz 100% on your own and gaining the pleasure and satisfaction from getting the right answers
4. Your talk of it becoming a prize draw, implies that the prize is the only reason for doing the quiz. To me it's the working out of an answer that's been bugging me and when the penny drops and you have that 'eureka' moment, that is reward enough.

Thanks for your support everyone - it was rather frustrating last time to see how many answers were given on AB. What really helped me to decide was what one of my entrants told me - "I was cutting the lawn when a Nightfreight lorry went past and I nearly went into a ditch in my excitement." Another one involves her whole family, and they have a great time, apparently, spotting the various items. Thanks again. VN
Well that's one quiz I will not be entering. I have done the last 2 at least but I have down loaded this one but as the setter uses the Q & A site to advertise the quiz I feel really annoyed that she states we cannot use it for answers. Asking on this site is just like asking friends and relatives and if you do not want to know the answers given then don't look at them.
FoxLee2 - I'm afraid you're the one that's completely missing the point. The Heage quiz setter has said 'no asking for help on the internet'. That has been stated on this thread and the two started by brigitte.gad yesterday. Yet you chose to ignore that and continued to give away answers to the ditloids. Why do you think it's reasonable to do that in such circumstances? And please don't say 'because this is an answer site' because, when the quiz setter has said 'no asking', that's totally irrelevant. The questions should never have been asked in the first place.
Pulse876 You miss my point. You won't know the answers if you don't open the item. I do not agree that a quiz setter should forbid me to find my answers anywhere I want to. That is the point of this site to help each other. I am happy to help anyone and hope other people feel the same if you don't then don't look at the questions and answers.
Margaretrae - Your point is irrelevant in respect of this quiz. The person setting the quiz is entitled to decide the rules of that quiz. They are therefore perfectly entitled to say 'no asking for help on the internet'. The fact that you don't like such a rule is also irrelevant. I assume that simply means you won't buy that quiz. Fine. But anyone buying the quiz knew the rules before doing so and hence should comply with those rules which means no questions from that quiz should be asked. Hence in such circumstances there will be no 'item to open' as you put it.
Do you agree that if the quiz setter says 'no asking on the internet' then anyone who's doing the quiz, and knew the rules before they bought it, should comply with that rule? If not, then please explain why it's reasonable to ignore the rules of the quiz in such circumstances.
