The Shame Of The Catholic Church
55 Answers
..programme just finished on BBC2.
Anyone see it? It was horrific and heartbreaking and went as far as exposing the failings of the Primate of All Ireland, Sean Brady who failed to protect children as far back as 1975 from the abuse of a predatory paedophile priest.
The investigative journalist who made it believes that the scandal of such cases has sounded the death knell for the Catholic church in Ireland.
Is it possible that he could be right?

Ireland's priests misdemeanours does NOT represent the whole faith. I know non-irish RC bishops would not collude to protect defaulting priests.

It does indeed appear to not be restricted to Ireland alone, it seems it's global.

When the Primate of Ireland can tell untruths and avoid (morally, but more importantly criminally) his obligations you know his organisation is in steep decline.

Last year the deacon [who thought he was a priest] in my mother`s parish caused havoc resulting in the resignation of a priest from the parish and unbelievable upset for the church members including my mother and her family. Endless complaints to the English Bishop finally got a result. He was given a year to pray and reflect!
