i have been underweight for some time now, but in the past 3 months i have gained 7lb, which i am extremely happy about. however, now i am gaining weight i would like to exercise to build my muscles up, but i do not want to do aerobics or any exercise that will burn calories off as i need to keep the weight on that i am gaining.  so i was wondering if any of you guys had any gentle exercise tips that i can do at home, without any equipment, to build my muscles, mainly my stomach (which typically is where most of the weight is going), my bum and my calf muscles.  i would be extremely thankful of anyone who could help me with this problem.

thanks.xx

I'm not expert, but one of those ball things are GREAT fun.  And you can use them for situps, bum stuff and leg stuff.  Hopefully they come with a book or a video though.  Sorry if that's no use because you don't have room or your dog has sharp teeth or something!  Good luck though.  :-)
Situps are great for your tummy. Also just lie on the floor, lift your feet a couple of inches, hold it for a count of 10 to begin with, then put them back down. Repeat as often as required, and as it stops pulling, then increase the time to 20, 30, etc.

For bum and thighs, sit on the floor and reach down to each foot in turn, seeing how long you can hold onto it (but don't do it too hard until you're used to it and pull anything). Also, while you're sitting, keep both legs on the floor, but reach around with both arms to either side in turn to see how far you can reach, repeat as necessary. Another one for your bum is to sit on the floor with your legs and arms stretched out in front of you, and then 'crawl' on your bum forwards 10 times, then the same backwards.

What about something like Pilates or Yoga??? Something that will tone you while you are putting on th weight.....

Let us know how you go....!
