MM Links May 2012 Week 3

So we come to Week Three and my thoughts turn, naturally, to the fantastic day of sport that awaits us. Subject to the weather (this is being written early on Thursday morning), day three of the Lord’s test match; the Champions’ League Final in association football; and I will shortly be heading to Twickenham for the all-Ireland Heineken Cup Final.
A lot going on but, much as I’d like to, I don’t think I can avoid mentioning the monarch’s longevity. And I might as well do so this week.
The double bank holiday will bring all sorts onto the streets, from the posh to the hoi-polloi. People who normally wouldn’t come within miles of each other will be cheek by jowl, forcing their way to the front of the crowds.
There will be a flotilla down the Thames; which Dimbleby will be the first to make an analogy with the ‘little ships’ of Dunkirk fame?
For those who can’t be there in person, the nation’s broadcasters – indeed, the world’s broadcasters – will be bringing the pomp, sparkle and splendour of the pageantry to the living room.
Throughout the course of the extremely long weekend, I shall be hunkered down with the newspapers and a pot of coffee (or something stronger), occasionally logging into AnswerBank, and hoping the whole thing passes me by.

Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!
Each of the selected link words may go in front of, or behind my challenge word.
The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when gen2 will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.

Party fever in a neighbouring village led to hoi polloi wanting to close the road through their village for a street party until it was pointed out that the road was the main route from the local ambulance station. Common sense eventually prevailed. They now have a fancy dress theme – all, male and female, are invited to dress as “Queens”!
