And : Time for book on former US president and his end (T*S*)

chin-chin
Taft

Thanks Warton. The "S" of T*S* seems good though - the intersecting clue is a place (theme) "Young girl touring gave out 3,5" for "Las Vegas".
Lomax
Las Vegas must be correct (lass+gave)
The only connection I can see is book (Tess) of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, but there my tenuous logic stops!

Thanks. The "T" seems OK as well - again a place "Fighting Cambinet member, one's lost (10)" Warminster.

Took me about 5 minutes to deconstruct chin-chin!
I am not totally convinced by either of these answers, and I'm stuck on the same two as you. Any more thoughts?
tush (US slang for buttocks/end) - 'Bush' (US president) with 'b' (book) replaced by 't' (time)
I like that answer, Thanks.
Can you justify Chin chin for me?
chin-chin (toast) - 'cinch' (something easy/a walk in the park) with 'h' (hot) inside + 'in' (home)
Of course! Thanks , Bulliver, Now I can get on with the day.
