A friend goes on boating holidays on the Kennet and Avon Canal. She says that she can't get a signal and were without a connection most of the time the only way to use a mobile was to get your text ready to send, stand on a railway bridge, wait for a train to go by and press send. Any idea why this would be?

i know most trains now have wifi so maybe the mobile phone system uses that connection in order to ensure passengers get a signal when travelling on the train
How on earth did she discover that?
I don't know but I had a junk e-mail arrive in my spam folder with lots of animal pictures and I was racking my brains trying to think where I'd seen the tabbycat before. Annie you have solved my problem. Either you sent the spam mail or you received it too :0

Back to the point in question, do the trains have the same system as car ferries, ie the one that lets me make calls and texts in the middle of the sea but I can't access the internet unless I buy an expensive key code from the counter next to the Bureau de Change?
lol spikey no idea where your spam mail came from, that's not my laughing kitten, I got it from google images!!
is she on orange by any chance?
