Unusual City Breaks

I'm planning a city break somewhere in Europe for later this year and would like to go somewhere a bit different from the standard Paris, Barcelona, Rome etc. I've found out that easyJet have started flying to places like Tallinn, Bratislava and Ljubljana. Has anybody visited any of these places? What's the weather like? Where's the best places to stay? Thanks in advance.

Never been to any of these , but a word of warning.
The no frills airlines like EasyJet sometimes use airports that are a long way from the city they supposedly fly to.
If only going for a weekend it can make a huge difference.
Enjoy where ever you end up going to.

ljubliana is ok - it's a bit like prague but smaller.Bratislava is VERY industrial

Valencia is a great city to go to

Tallinn and Ljubljana both have pretty old-town centres though further out both are Soviet-drab... but no need to go further out if you're just there for a weekend. They're nothing like the size of Paris or Berlin, though; 2-3 days is probably enough unless you're a real explorer. If anyone flies to Riga, that's a much bigger city.

We (Husband and self) went to Ljubljana in June last year. The centre is small, compact, attractive and easy to walk round.

There are a number of museums, galleries and churches to visit and plenty of bars and restaurants, particularly round the Ljubljanica River. There also seems to be a failry thriving nightlife scene of concerts, clubs etc..

We stayed at the Hotel Turist which was very convenient as it was so near the centre - clean, comfortable but a bit 'antiseptic' i.e  slightly lacking in character.

We really enjoyed our trip to Ljubljana, it was perfect for a short i.e. 3 to 4 days break, an easy place to relax in and a city with an interesting history.

Oh, and it's about a half hour journey - through some lovely alpine countryside scenery - from the airport.

Depending on where you are flying from Easyjet and Wizz Air have some good deals from Luton and or Stanstead to some of the Polish cities. Krakow, Warsaw or Gdansk are worth looking into. Also, although it is more of a regular tourist destination, Bruges is a fantastic place to go for a long weekend and I've been told that Ghent and Antwerp are well worth a visit too.
