I really want to change my broadband provider!! I pay way more a month than i should be and not getting very good service. i've called up my provider and they won't do anything for me or allow me to cancel the account as it is still in my ex's name from when he lived here. i'd forgotten about this account as i don't receive paper bills and it just gets taken out of my account every month so it has been left.
aol want me to write to them to apply to change account into my name then i can request to stop the account. Jeez!
Question is if I chose and switch to a new provider with a website such as uswitch will it skip all this hassle and then i can get a change started today?....

No, otherwise what would stop me cancelling your broadband account as a laugh.
if it is in your ex's name but comes from your account stop the payments They will cancel it soon enough

yes payments have been coming out of my account since a month after he left. it's tempting to do this rowanwitch not sure aol would take that lying down though. think i'll be asking for letters demanding unpaid payments as not cancelled account correctly.

chuckfickens i used uswitch recently to change energy suppliers and didn't have to do anything to confirm it was my request to change...it all went smoothly . not sure it would work the same with a broadband supplier though.
you'd need the MAC code from AOL before you can switch.

Why not just get a male to call up an pretend to be your EX, just write down all the likely information they might ask as security questions first.

Yes i was thinking about that myself. It would be an easy solution wouldn't it especially as ex is working abroad at the mo and I've no idea when he'll be back.
If you contact another provider with a view to joining them I'm sure they'll bend over backwards to sort it out for you and get your custom.
