Outlet Villages - worth travelling any distance for?
4 Answers
Mrs J (learned my lesson on that one!) is a fanatical shopper, and as she has difficulties walking and carrying anything, someone my size is handy for her to have in tow.
She mutters on about getting better deals in the main stores at sale times or with "Manager's specials".
The only exception appears to be Bicester Village, but as most outlets there are decidedly upmarket, there's still a lot to pay even at heavily discounted prices.
Last week, at Gretna Gateway, I saw a bottle of Gentleman Jack for £39.99 - it's only £30 in Waitrose!
M&S certainly bear out her premise, where in-store you can get one-off items like chinos at little over £10, shirts with more than 70% off (sometimes you can pick up something which is even less than the sale tag price when you reach the checkout).
BTW I've tried dissuading her from putting herself through such retail torture, but nothing works.

She's well up on 'em all, since visiting Street several years ago.
We have to make regular visits to Cheshire Oaks. My main objection is having to pay for the Mersey Tunnel both ways.
Presumably you have made some of the same pilgrimages to these places of retail worship - did you or Mrs N find them good value?
