P is short for the musical instruction Piano meaning soft

p = quiet
loud minus 'u'
Plod-P(quiet) -loud minus "U" =lud=plod
quiet = P, loud but not posh = LO(u)D
from PC Plod, also U = posh
Sorry loud minus "U" = lod etc

pianissimo - musical term meaning very soft - abbreviated to 'p'
upper class - abbreviated to 'u'
