Netball News 22 July
Yaaaaaaawn ... (rubs eyes) ... is it morning already ??
I suppose I've missed the "morning" thread.
Okay, so here's the weekend's Netball round up.
The AFNA Championship 2012 has finished yesterday (that's the "Americas Federation Netball Association".
The competition involves most of the Caribbean countries, the US, Canada, etc.
In the end, it came down to a clash between Trinidad, and Jamaica.
T&T had convincingly won their first six games in the series (including 104-13 against Guyana, and 60-23 against the US) (the US really are a bit rubbish, aren't they ... 260 million people, and they can't find seven who can throw a ball to each other!).
In the meantime, Jamaica had also convincingly beaten the US (who are, as we know, a bit rubbish).
Anyone who's ever clicked on my Netball threads (that's about two people, I expect) will know that I rate the Jamaicans highly. I'm not joyous that they won, because I also like Trinidad. But ... they did win. The current Jamaican success machine rolls on!
Final score ...
The Calypso Girls 40 - 60 The Sunshine Girls
That left T&T in third place overall. Second place was taken by Barbados, who had won all but one of their games, only losing to ... Jamaica.
So the Jamaicans are coming here for a three Test series in September. Bring them on, I say. It's going to be fantastic.
And now ... I'm going to make some coffee.
