Any clever people know the answer to Wednesdays cryptic crossword.

I'm stuck on 31 across..

Tidy bed exactly at front (8)....._E_D_E_ _

 

and 22 down..Britain and Spain maintained old saw (6)   _ E _E_ _

 Could it be "readiest" sounds daft  I know, but if you are at the front yu are usually ready
22 is beheld. B is a standard crossword abbreviation for Britain and E is the same for Spain (Espagna). Held means maintained and the whole thing is the past tense of the old verb 'behold' meaning 'see'.
31 is deadhead, as in a gardener tidying up flowers in a flower-bed. Dead means exactly as in 'dead accurate' and head means to be 'at front'.
