Words from India used in English.
4 Answers
Is there a comprehensive site that details all words originating form the indian subcontinent during the Raj which are now established in the English language. I am interested in the derivation of the word and the story behind it. Juggernaut for the large chariot of Lord Jaggernath (in southern india) that was pulled by devotees during the festive period through the streets comes to mind. Any more.

Not a comprehensive listing, but intersting articles on individual terms of Indian origin, for example dekko, mufti, tiffin, blighty.

Click here for a website whish lists many of the borrowed words in English. Once there, you'll need to scroll down to find the particular languages of India for words we have adopted from the sub-continent specifically.
