15a Yes Nichols - Allways -his trilogy.
22a Wordplay suggests Webb, but can't find reference yet.
Duty looks OK for 21a.
Have you the clue for 1d? I can't see it on the Times crossword site.

Slaney - it's not the Times, it's the Times Literary Supplement. The clue is 'Dickens officer a brave Liberal, we're told ' (7,7) Captain Bobadil fits the clue as Dickens played this character in the play 'Every Man in his Humour' but doesn't fit the description of Bobadil in the literature. Thanks for Webb - it's probably right.
The TLS is usually in there too, but the last one is 935.
Captain Boldwig - Pickwick Papers
22a looks like WEBB, since a web is a snare, but I don't know which Webb wrote unadorned verse.
For "unadorned verse," Simple Poems for Quiet Reading by Doris E Webb may work.
1 left. 18a? o-u-i-t.Or do I have something wrong.
Better bet for "unadorned verse" by Webb:
"Naked Poems" by Phyllis Webb (b. 1927)
