5 down - Chief seized by a french invader, last one in race (9) I'm sure it is anchorman, can anyone confirm please? I have A?C?O?M?N and can see "A Norman" for the French invader and ch" for chief, but where does the "O" come from.

6 down - Guide held up following bride (5) I have T?A?N and know that a train follows a bride, but hos is this guide?

Train can mean guide as in train a fruit tree up a wall.

I can't see where the O comes from in the wordplay for 5d either. Is that definitely the full clue?
^oops, I seem to be losing it too! The o is in Norman!
