Max Bygraves Story
11 Answers
Max Bygraves told this story on the stage at the Theatre Royal many years ago.
"My uncle used to own a second hand clothes shop with unpriced suits hanging outside for customers to look at.
An assistant with an obvious hearing aid would stand outside and when a customer asked for the price of a suit the assistant would call out "Dad, how much is this grey pin striped suit".
The reply came "THIRTY POUNDS"
The assistant, who was pretending to be deaf would say "THIRTEEN POUNDS"
The customer, thinking that he had got a bargain would pay up quickly and be off.
Max said that his uncle had only paid a pound or two for it.
