I can never understand why burglary is considered a minor crime.
We were burgled about 7 or 8 years ago, and they absolutely trashed our house - the insurance claim was in excess of £30,000.
That was the easy bit.
What they also did was systematically ruin beyond repair our photo albums, which included photos of our kids as babies and toddlers (this was before we stored our photos on our computer), spunked in Mrs Flop's underwear drawer, crapped in my daughter's bedroom and crapped in mine and Mrs Flop's bed (they made the bed after so that when we went to bed we discovered another of their presents).
It was as if in addition to nicking easily replaceable stuff, they also wanted to punish us.
The sense of violation was absolutely overwhelming.
This was a house we had strived for, having been Mrs Flop's favourite house when she was growing up, but the sense of violation was so great that within a month of the burglary she insisted we had to sell.
All the police were interested in doing was given us a crime reference number to report the burglary to our insurers because "it was probably just kids" The wealth of evidence the burglars left (turds and spunk) was ignored.
Kids or not, I would happily, even now, like to see the bastards dead.
This is why the comments from this idiot Judge sicken me.
Burglary is a heinous crime and should be dealt with severely.
