Sky Channel Page 632 - Quiz Prog.

Ok, I was (evidently) incredibly bored last night and decided to whip through every channel we have.  On the quiz channel there was a picture of 5 scattered hearts playing cards (an ace, a ten, a 14 (!), a six and a nine).  The callers were asked to "Count all the Hearts".  I watched this for over an hour and nobody got the question right and people were ringing in with answers from 34 - 256!!  Anyone see this and how it was done?

Well the cards were kind of scattered so you couldn't actually see all of the hearts, and also you know you get that little heart in the top corner next to the number?  Well I didn't know if that was included.  14 isn't a real card so didn't know if that was included.  Does the ace count as 1 or 11?  I made it 34 if you count the hearts you can actually physically see on the screen, but was wondering how people were making it up to two hundred and something!

I dont know the answer but I have seen it before. You have to count the exact number of hearts so on a three of hearts there are actualy 5 hearts (including the little ones) if another card covers the bottom of the card so 4 are showing that would 4.

However after saying all that I once stayed and watched one with Diamond shapes (not cards) and I could't get anywhere near the final answer. :-)

I actually flicked onto this by accident (honest) - it was so obvious that the answer was 36 (or thereabouts) visible diamonds, yet nobody was ringing in and the presenter was even trying to bribe people to ring in by offering them �10 just for getting through.  I actually felt sorry for her because she looked so bored and embarassed having to say the same thing every few minutes, practically begging people to ring in.  I flicked back about 20 mins later and it was exactly the same!

I was almost tempted to put everyone out of their misery but these quizzes are all a con because they never tell you how they get the answer!
