I received the new Rainbow Quiz "Exercise the Extremities" yesterday. It's a wonderful, challenging one and in a very good cause. I noticed you recommended it in Chatterbank but I was surprised to see it's not in the Quiz List on this site.I just wondered if there was any reason perhaps for this.
Must be correct then - now on with the 44 I have still to solve. I blame the Paralympics and then US Open watching - will give it my full attention now. Thanks all
Liking this one, adding 2 or 3 a day; 26 left to go, but plenty of time.
My favourite so far is 84.
Two I have tentatively entered,
34. If set in New York, how does cad slicing bananas fit?
96. A part of a handset?
Funny, I haven't solved any of those ones either. Have solved 58 in total, think a couple of them are doubtful....why do I allow myself to become addicted to these quizzes year after year? Because they're such good fun I suppose, even though they keep me awake at night!
Been working hard on this one - now down to just one needed (84). I thought of one possible answer, but perhaps too obvious, bearing in mind how devious the compiler usually is!! Will come back nearer the deadline time to see if anyone has thoughts on it.
34) yes it is set in NY. A while since I got it, but an anagram of cad sliced is in there. Ah just remembered - do the anagram and look it up. This will give you the first word of the answer!
Not got 84. Something to do with GG I suspect, but not help-ing me much.
Hi Goofy and Tommo33....34 is another of their really good ones I think, I enjoyed finding that one. Douggtos re: 84 I think the answer must be more difficult than the name - either first or second name - of the actress followed by a piece of jewellery seems much too easy as well, bearing in mind their usual toughness. Maybe they're just being kind to us this time (doubtful!)....I think there might be much more to look for on this one.
Yes, martysgirl - I agree with your comments re the name. Only other thought at the moment is re a female character in Dickens. It could, indeed, be a bit of an (old) curiosity!! Will just give it some more thought for now.
Douggtos...We usually have an answer to do with Dickens, Shakespeare, The Bible and Gilbert and Sullivan..will also keep working on it. Drives me mad in bed trying not to think of them. Still have 36 others to solve, plus checking a couple of doubtfuls so plenty to occupy me. Some are probably so obvious to others, 70 for example is one I haven't got a clue about yet
Thanks dougglos (think I got the spelling right at last, must get to bed, 8 minutes to 1 in morning) See what I mean, the simplest ones often appear to be the most tricky. Thanks for the nudge, and for only giving hints.
Working my way down:
Goofy, thanks. I had it right, but couldn't justify it. I wonder if the friars of the type realised from the anagram are any good at brewing?
