I'vegot used to the mail cryptic, but have recently subscribed to The Week. It's crossword is another matter! There were plenty I didn't get and some I didn't understand when I saw the answers. Please help me with understanding of these please:

7d Urge greens on child (4) - ITCH. Why the IT?

10a Pope maybe with Scottish doctor? (6) - ADRIAN. Why the Scottish doctor?

2d Beer cans split- remove bits (5,3) - STRIP OUT. Why beer cans split?

20d Pain gets to father if you do this visit (42). DROP-IN. Why the 'Pain gets tfather if you do this'?
