And there are loads of programs that will monitor the usage if you have one device that uses your connection, but if you have more than one device connected to your connection (including things like phones) then they are pointless.
If your ISP website can't help you then your router might be the next best option, some of them will let you know how much bandwidth you've used.... so what's the make and model of router too?
Otherwise have a read here.... keep in mind though that any program you install on your computer will only monitor the usage for that one computer, so if you have got other devices using your internet like I said, they are pointless.

Also keep in mind that both upload and download count towards your usage, so you have to make sure you are adding them up.
Thanks for your help, I'll have a look at the links and check the BT site again tomorrow.
I know 10gb isn't much but its usually enough for me. They charge £5 per month for every 5gb over and as far as i can see, that's cheaper than going up a package.
Craft - Unlimited access is quite a bit more expensive, so if you were offered this without asking its likely you've been put on the most expensive option.
I don't know maidup, I pay £32.60 a month for up to 16Mb broadband with unlimited download, my line rental, and all calls except international and to mbiles.
Mines £23.75 (all calls free) and if I pay this extra £5 for another 5gb, its £28.75. The next level up is about the same as you with the anytime calls so I'm looking to see if I can monitor my usage and keep it to the £23.75 pm.
