what is this symbol?

On my ZTE grand x mobile phone...

its shaped like a sim card, but has 2 lines going horizontally across it - both 'pointing' in opposite directions - sort of like two number ones - 1 - but without the bottom line of the 1

i realise its probably to do with the sim, but its on a sort of control panel on the main screen, alongside icons for the wifi, bluetooth, gps, and brightness, and it can be switched on and off - but doesnt seem to have any visible or noticable affect on the phone ... surely its not just switching the sim off or something...?

Is your phone equipped to take 2 SIM cards? Some models are and you can obviously switch between the two.

thanks, i wondered that too... but there is no obvious slot and the manual doesnt mention this either ...
