Any help or am i reading it wrong as far as i can make out the BIG GAINT CROSSWORD has to be in by january 8th were as the Herculis has to be in by next friday the 28th but you need the Herculis's words

The shaded words on Saturday are required to link with the words on Monday for the Herculis prize, not vice versa.

yes but the saturday puzzle is quite large so that is why there is extra time on but they would still like the herculis returned by fri week?

They always give a lot of time for the big puzzle. Unless you know different I suspect the closing date for the Herculis will also be delayed for postage reasons.

It was last weeks Herculis that had to be in by 28th Dec.
Tomorrows Herculis has the links to Saturdays puzzle and probably have a closing date of Jan 8th as well

That would be a very generous i have found mulled wine and brandy butter and something that starts S......N but so far that is all
