I am planning on getting a kindle paperwhite, I already have an older kindle but would also like one with a light. My question is: can I have 2 kindles registered to the same account, and if I download a book from Amazon would it automatically go onto both kindles?

You can have up to six devices registered to the same account. I don't think it will go to both Kindles, it will go to the one that you select when you buy it. But you can easily collect it on the other one, by going to Archived Books, and collecting it.
