Low Vibration/noise/resonance At 30Mpg In 4Th Gear. Tracking Problem??
I've just test driven a Suzuki Ignis 1.5 4Grip. In comparison with other cars i've test driven in last few days, i'm v happy with it. Except for one thing. The car vibrates deeply/resonates when it's going at 30mpg in 4th gear. Pull out up to 36mpg and the sound goes.
My mum thought it was the exhaust but i'm not convinced; when i put it in neutral and revved it, the exhasut sounded perfect. Salesman says it's the tracking and easily corrected.
Any other ideas please?
I don't think the car was pulling to either side. It had four new tyres on so couldn't say whether any had worn unevenly. It kinda felt a bit like i was driving it poorly - as if i was in the wrong gear...but presumably i should be able to cruise at 30mpg in 4th, shouldn't i? The vibration may have been worse under passengers feet than elsewhere in the car.
I'd be grateful for any advice/thoughts. I'm no expert on cars but wouldn't like to buy a car with something wrong with it.
Many thanks
Gill

Tracking wouldn't give the effects either and if it was a long way out you would be going off line and you would notice that. Have you had the car checked with HPI, always worthwhile to discount the possibility of a crashed repaired car.
If your really interested tell the Dealer to repair it and you will comeback to give it another test drive. There are loads of decent s/hand cars out there at good prices, so don't accept anything unless your 100% happy.
