Dear Ed
i was wondering if there there could a subsection in crosswords, so you could immediately go to your chosen paper, it seems there are a lot of crossword lovers on here who do the Daily Mail, The Telegraph, and others, that way you don't have to wade through both quizzes, puzzles and crosswords, to see if anyone else is struggling, can't get that last clue. so you could look directly under your chosen paper. It would take a little time for those to post in right newspaper category, but once going it would be quicker, well one can hope...
It may be worth giving it a try but given that quite a large number of posters don't use the available title builder, don't name the paper, don't give details of letters or still use Q&P rather than crosswords, I'm not sure many of these posters would bother using the right subsection.
Anyway, in my experience most crossword questions are answered very quickly, so I think that unless you happen to spot a new question as it appears for the first time in Latest Posts you'd usually be too late.
just a thought, If i am struggling with the crossword, which is often, scroll through to see if anyone is having same problem, or has given the answer, though if i saw Daily Mail heading could go straight to it.
in principle it's a good idea, em, but as factor says, a lot of people don't given an accurate heading, or use a range of abbreviations which aren't consistent. I tend to search on the clue.
In theory the Related Posts field should help if people used the title builder. The AB search box works well though if you just key in a key word from the clue.
It maybe worth trying the use use of subsections though
That's an excellent idea. Questions move down the page so quickly in that section, it's often difficult to find them again, so splitting them up would be helpful.
I doubt that it would work in practice since, when Crosswords was a subsection of Q&P, so many crossword questions were posted in Q&P and not in the subsection.
p.s. it might help if all the subsections were displayed by default but then the listing all the subsections on the lhs makes for a rather long webpage.
no response from our leader, i wonder if he has given it any thought, i don't see why it couldn't work,
i usually end up looking under both puzzles and crosswords, under crossword, section just for DM, then the Telegraph, plus others
still as said just an idea, i would find it a bit easier locating those pesky answers.
