WOW - we have just got back from a healthy walk along the riverbank near to our house, taking photographs of the snow while it is still pure white and untrodden in! I don't think I have ever seen such beautiful snowy scenery before except on Christmas cards. The snow is really deep, the river is mostly frozen and it was so peaceful there under the trees. The snowy branches framed the paths and the river. As there are a few waterfalls along the way too, it was so photogenic, I must have taken 200 photos! What an enjoyable afternoon, now enjoying a warming cuppa!
I love the snow, been doing nothing but walking dogs, popping out for no reason and sledging with any kids I can borrow. Snowball fights too but the nicest thing of all was the woods which are just like crystal caves. I'll be really sorry to see this thaw :(
One day last week I was driving along a snowy country lane just as the sun was almost down. The temperature was minus 5 and a heavy frost had descended upon the trees on either side of the road. The effect was quite breathtaking - misty and surreal. Absolutely beautiful! I've travelled all over the world, but I've never seen anything in nature quite so magical. It beat any Santa's grotto!
I'm jealous Ann. I nearly skipped work last week and went out with my camera when the trees were all frozen. Stunning. Post a couple of shots if you can.
Winter in Canada was beautiful but England on days like today really can't be beaten, Ann. Don't know what it is but it's just got the edge.
Spent too long today gazing over the fields with skeleton trees against pure white snow.......a true wonderland.
We had the first snow of the winter today but just a smattering and already gone. More forecast for later. It's the possibility of ice on the back lanes that is the issue.
The first Mr Craft's hobby was photography and he took some beautiful pictures of snow scenes.
As a birthday surprise I had 2 of them blown up poster size and professionaly framed.............he's still got them more than 30 years later.
