Thanks all.but what would criminal intent (6,12), be
any letters so far?
'Malice aforethought' must be right?
Malice aforethought is a possibility?
A German speaker would pronounce 'rot' as 'rote', with a longer vowel sound than in the English word (dry) 'rot'. The quiz setter intends the solver to read 'rot' as 'rote', thus forcing it (in my opinion) to rhyme - more or less - with aforethought. Not a well-written clue.
