Mad Over Fifties Club

Welcome all Mad over Fifties to the hallowed halls of Nungate Towers. Tonight's tailcock is the "Ding a Ling" a concoction of a few spirits and fruit nectars with a berry chucked in to add that certain "je ne sais quoi" The offering on tonights hotplate is a chicken casserole with herby dumplings (rolled by these fair hands!) also on offer are our usual tasty selection of volly vonts, canopies and other delightful nibbles. Our pudding trolley tonight is groaning under the weight of Knickerbocker Glories (we've had trouble finding original knickerbockers but we found them nonetheless) The Minstrels are already in the gallery tuning up and getting ready with the usual selection of madrigals and toccattas, later on they plan to regale us all with their favourite songs by Bessie Smith, I, myself am particularly looking forward to hearing "Gimme a pigfoot and a bottle of beer" echoing within these walls! The hot tub is gently bubbling away on the North Tower, the mini bar has (again) been replenished, sadly the bungee on the South Tower is still awaiting new elastics (having trouble obtaining the right strength of elastic) However, we have again opened up the bowling alley in the dungeons (Sir Cumference is looking forward to some company this evening) and the games room has also been furnished with a variety of games for your amusements - I have the tiddlywinks table booked for 9.30.................
For the rofl I offer a years back issues of The Lady magazine
Ten years back issues of the Speedway Star,
a dozen odd socks
a variety of chipped or broken china
(yes we've been having a clear out)
The warmest of welcomes is assured for all who dare enter these Towers
Carriages at midnight

Good evening your nungateship and all who may enter your hallowed halls.
A bucket of that wonderful sounding tailcock ''Ding a Ling '' ( isn't one of Chuck Berry's recipes is it ?) if you please.
For the roffle I have one bunch of daffodills, half a kitchen roll and a starter motor ( suitable for a 1978 Reliant Scimitar ).

Evening Tony, kitchen roll is always welcome on these premises (we're always wiping down surfaces that the cats have wandered across)
We got the recipe from the Chuck Berry Cookbook and Lighthouse keepers manual........
Please don't change your avatar on my account, I was only referring to the symmetry of the fighter planes and of the two I found the X wing to be the looks of the fighter itself - in much the same way as the Spitfire is possibly the nicest aeroplane ever made (my own preference)

Evening nungate and excel. So pleased to be in a place of safety and ordinariness. My smoke /carbon monoxide alarm (aka Gladys) had a nervous breakdown at approximately 4a.m. yesterday. Yelling "batteries low!" "Fire! Fire!" Crawled out of bed. No heating on, no oven on, no lights on, no candles burning. Or anything else.
As she lives on the ceiling and the builders beggared my steps I could not reach her to reassure her that all was well.
About 7a.m. she stopped screeching. Thought her batteries had gone. Sighs of relief.
4.30a.m. this morning she was at it again. Every 60 seconds. by 8.00a.m.
I was a cringinging wreck. Tried hitting her with the broom. No room in the flat where she could not be heard. When she started on the carbon monoxide spiel I finally lost it. A screech every 60 seconds for hours on end.
Had to get a dining chair and lever myself up hanging on to the door jamb and decapitated her. (No head for heights).
Continued to screech so eventually eviscerated her. RIP.
