only four to go but have wracked my brains and cannot find an answer.

20. An accurate timekeeper, readily started and stopped , used in race timing etc (9 letters - stopwatch, but where is the creature?)

27. A covering, layer, cloth for coats, a layer of paint etc. (7)

40. Seaside marshland (7) (Wetland, but again where is the creature?)

110. A Wall round the top of a well (6)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Question Author
Just looked in dictionary for coati and there it is - wow, you learn something each day don't you, especially when you do quizzes.
Question Author
888 - does that mean I have to go and look in the dictionary again, for hatand? Or are you teasing me?
Well .............. in that case ........... 110 Coping (pig) :o)))
Question Author
Example - clue: a type of pear. answer: comice - mice.
Question Author
If I cannot get letters actually following each other I think I will take the next best thing, as you have all suggested. I cannot see why it should not be acceptable. Thanks a lot everyone. You are all good to me, for some reason, can't think why!!
you're welcome starone x
20 Hi,starone.metronome is a type of timekeeper and monotreme is an anagram. A monotreme is an egg-laying mammal eg duck-billed platypus. Saying all that I'm sure there must be a simpler answer!!
