no it's not quite like the AA routeplanner because i think it's more about public transport rather than a car journey.

I'm not sure that I have heard of this precise hobby before, it sounds like a bit of an anorak hobby except that they won't need a coat as they could do it all in the comfort of their laptop. Where have you seen such a thing?

It actually sounds abit American don't you think?
I feel bad for saying that now. I genuinely thought it was a wind up. Sorry pudcat :-(

But yes, I've never heard of it. It sounds... er... thrilling :P
It's an odd pastime, when you can get that information just by going to the AA website....
Things you don't want your friends to take up.

1. Morris dancing

2. This ^^^ (whatever it is called)

3. Etc ...

Public transport? Is it really? Oh my god, you'd have to work out how long you'd be waiting for a bus.....
wll, if it's a virtual game then you wouldn;t need to factor that in lol
Doh! Oh yeah! Haha.

I wanna know what this game is now! :)
I used to do this as a child except I made up my own countries and timetables. I don't think it has a name, I'd just describe it as odd.
Lol prudie. That's even weirder!! :))
I always thought that it was called "Bradshaw's Game" after the Victorian railway timetable but I can find no references to it via Google.

Whatever it's called, Dzug2, Mushroom25 and I seem to play it quite a lot in AB's Travel section!
;-)
I might confiscate the kids X Box tomorrow and get them doing this.
It sounds intriguing.
the thing is, if you also used older timetables, like bradshaws, it would make the game more of a challenge, perhaps there could be different degrees of difficulty. it would be like around the world in 80 days but on a smaller scale
Lol. I've got the maps at the ready as we speak....

ok, as an experiment , who can get from Plymouth to Hebden Bridge on a Saturday by 6pm in the fastest time via road or rail. (summer timetables only) lol
not your own caR, COACH OR BUS OR TRAIN!
I'd get Kimi to drive me
Where's Hebden Bridge...? Does that even matter?

Hang on.... I'm conferring.
