I have been trying to answer a question in Technology/computers about a formula required in a spreadsheet.
The formula I wish to enter includes a 'less-than' symbol.

AB doesn't like it. Presumably because it thinks it is an opening HTML tag. The symbol and everything following it are expunged.

OK, I've come across that before and used the common alternative of <
except that AB refuses to decode it into the symbol.

How then does one get to use such a symbol?
PS
I tried the site's 'search' facility but it showed no similar questions.

it would seem that a space is needed between the < and the next character

Ignore the above, I see what you mean ☺
I noticed that only today when I was trying to draw a left-pointing arrow.

<
Used Arial font through the Character Map and a bit of copy `n' paste,

Tiny arrows
Pehaps the only answer at the moment might be to write the formula with (insert 'less than' symbol here).
e.g. 2(insert 'less than' symbol here)6

but wolf63, I don't want an arrow - I want a spreadsheet formula that someone can copy and paste into their spreadsheet.

x
x < 3
